Fifty Days of Prayer for the National Election 2012 – Day 3

Focus: The Bible is infallible. Jesus is the Living Word. No political philosophy or position transcends God’s Truth, God’s Word.
A postmodern worldview is suspicious of and questions the possibility of “truth,” and raises numerous challenges to the Christian worldview and the infallibility of the Bible, which makes a clear claim to authoritative truth. The postmodern worldview suspects authority and rejects meta-narrative (a transcendent and over-arching view of the world, a claim to universal meaning). Any worldview or framework of meaning that provides an over-arching explanation of reality or truth (such as God made human beings and reveals Himself to them or that Christ died for our sins) is rejected by the postmodern adherent. Pray against this darkness.
Psalm 19:7-9—“The law of the Lord is perfect… the testimony of the Lord is sure… the commandment of the Lord is pure… the judgments of the Lord are true forever.”
Psalm 119:43—“the word of truth.”
Psalm 119:142—“Your law is the truth.”
Psalm 119:160—“Your word is true from the beginning.”
John 17:17—“Your word is truth.”
Titus 1:2—“God Who cannot lie.”
Hebrews 6:18—“It is impossible for God to lie.”
2 Timothy 3:16 – “All Scripture is inspired by God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
2 Peter 1:21 – “No prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.”
Almighty and Most Merciful God,
In the beginning was λόγος , Christ Jesus, the Word. The Word was with You, and the Word was God Himself. He was present originally with You before creation. He was one in essence and nature with You, yet personally distinct. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being. (John 1: 1-3) The Word, Jesus, is the revealer and interpreter of Your hidden being; He is Your reflection and visible image; He is Your exact representation, the gleaming brightness of Your glory; He is the demonstration of all Your manifestations to the world. Jesus made all things, proceeding personally from You for the accomplishment of the act of creation. (Hebrews 1:3) Jesus became man, accomplishing the redemption of the world. (Philippians 2:6)
Jesus, the Word, Logos, λόγος, is the Word to us who conceive it. He is the Word to us who speak it. He is the Word to that which is spoken by it. He is the Word to the voice that it is clad in. And Jesus is the Word to the effects it raises in us who hear it. He is the Word which lives yet in the hearts of all of us who obediently do hear it. The Word is the intention uttered forth, as well as conceived within. For as Your intention departs from Your mind when Your Word is uttered, so Christ, proceeding from You, the Father, remains still in You and with You in essence. He is therefore rightly called the Word, both by His coming from, and yet remaining still in You, the Father. The words You speak will not return to You without producing results. They will accomplish what You want them to. They will do exactly what You sent them to do. (Isaiah 11:55)
We earnestly pray for a God-fearing person to serve as our next President of the United States. We pray with a holy fear for all who are running for every political position of power and authority in our nation. May these men and women keep their minds ever renewed by Your Word, then they will know the truth. May they base their lives on Your truth instead of Satan’s lies, so that they will experience all the freedom that Jesus died to give. We pray that they will set their thoughts on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely admirable, excellent, and worthy of praise. We pray that they will not conform to the pattern of this world, but will be transformed by the renewing of their minds. Then they will be able to test and approve what Your will is – Your good, pleasing and perfect will. We pray that the next President and the next Vice-President will know and surrender their lives to Jesus Christ, λόγος, the Word, and not a false Jesus or a false truth. We pray this in Jesus’ powerful and life-changing Name. Amen. (John 8:32; Phil 4: 8; Rom. 12: 2)
“Reason and experience both forbid us to reject that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle. It is impossible to rightly govern without God and the Bible.” (Roger Sherman, signer of the Declaration of Independence 1776, the Articles of Confederation 1781, and the Federal Constitution of 1788)
We the people of the State of Arizona, grateful to Almighty God for our liberties, do ordain this Constitution. (Preamble to the Constitution of Arizona)
