Fifty Days of Prayer for the National Election 2012 – Day 11

Day 11 September 28th
Focus:  The Voter’s Choice. Taking God out of the election
Humanism promulgates that man is not created in the image of God, but has evolved. Humanism promotes that Man’s capacity for self-realization comes through reason, ethics, and justice. Religion and the supernatural are rejected by the humanist.
The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” Psalm 14: 1
Almighty God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, Ancient of Days, Ruler of all Nations,
You saw that human beings on the earth were very wicked and that everything they thought about was evil. (Gen 6: 5) You declared that the wicked are proud. They do not look for You; there is no room for God in their thoughts. (Ps. 10: 4) Sin speaks to the wicked deep in their hearts. They have no fear or dread of God before their eyes. (Psalm 36: 1) And no person can say, “I am innocent; I have never done anything wrong.” (Prov. 20: 9) All of us are loathsome with sin. All the right things we have done are like filthy pieces of cloth. All of us are like dead leaves, and our sins, like the wind, have carried us away. (Is 64: 6) All have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God. (Rom 3: 23) If we say we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1: 8) We all have wandered away like sheep; each of us has gone his own way. But in Your mercy, You, LORD, have put the punishment on Jesus for all the evil we have done. (Is. 53: 6)
Anyone who believes in the Son has eternal life. Anyone who says no to the Son will not have life. Your anger remains on him. (John 3: 36) We pray for every person who belongs to Your Church in America. May all of us take care that there is not in any of us a sinful heart. Keep us from allowing an unbelieving heart to turn us away from the living God. (Heb 3: 12)
By Satan’s unlimited seduction to evil and with his wicked deception for those who are perishing, there are many in our nation who do not welcome the Truth, but refuse to love it that they might be saved. Therefore, You send upon them a misleading influence, a working of error and a strong delusion to make them believe what is false, in order that all may be judged and condemned who did not believe in the Truth, but instead took pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thess. 2: 10-12) Those who oppose the Lord have lied about You and said, “He will not do anything to us! Nothing bad will happen to us! We will never see war or hunger!” (Jer. 5: 12) Who is the liar? It is the person who does not accept Jesus as the Christ. This is the enemy of Christ: the person who does not accept the Father and His Son. (1 John 2: 22)
We beseech You to have mercy on our nation. We beseech You to come against Satan’s unlimited seduction to evil that has gripped the hearts and minds of our people. New England began as a holy experiment in which a nation governed by Your ordinances would be built. “Our fathers were Englishmen which came over this great ocean, and were ready to perish in this wilderness,” the Pilgrim father William Bradford declared, “but they cried unto the Lord, and He heard their voyce, and looked on their adversitie.” At the heart of both the Pilgrim and Puritan belief was the certainty that our forefathers had been chosen by You to build a country in which Your work and rule would be pre-eminent. America would serve as a beacon to the nations.
Restore our heritage O, God, by Your Holy Spirit, to Your honor and glory, and by the resurrection power of Your Son. Righteous God, only You are deserving of our fear, our awe, our allegiance. All our yearnings are fulfilled in You alone, for You are faithful and true. There is no god like You, for You are Holy, pure and just. As You work and move through the American electorate these last few weeks, give our eyes and hearts understanding of what pleases You. We ask for a President who will serve You in all faithfulness and fear. Push idolatry and unrighteousness out of the White House and out of our government. We pray that You will bring to light the wickedness that prevails at all levels of government that we might, as a nation, repent and return to You. Amen.
“In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate – look to his character. The Scriptures teach that rulers should be men who rule in the fear of God, able men, men of truth, hating covetousness. It is to the neglect of this rule that we must ascribe the multiplied frauds, breaches of trust, and embezzlements of public property which tarnish the character of our country and disgrace government. When a citizen gives his vote to a man of known immorality, he abuses his civic responsibility; he sacrifices not only his interest, but that of his neighbor; he betrays the interest of his country.” (Noah Webster, 1823)
We, the people of Hawaii, grateful for Divine Guidance, and mindful of our Hawaiian heritage and uniqueness as an island State, dedicate our efforts to fulfill the philosophy decreed by the Hawaii State motto… (Preamble to the Constitution of Hawaii)
