Nativity Chronology – Day 13

Untitled-1Luke 1:78 Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, 79 to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.”

Zacharias began to prophesy concerning the great things God was doing in the birth of John the Baptist and Jesus. At the end of His prophecy he speaks of God’s great mercy. God’s plan was never to leave humanity in darkness, cut off from relationship with Him, but to shine a great light in the middle of that darkness and display His marvelous light. He wasn’t sending  just a messenger, or another prophet, this time He was coming Himself in the person of Jesus to display the heart of God to a world that had been separated from Him. He would show us what humanity was created to look like and how we could walk in His peace. He would remove every obstacle to loving God and make a way where there was no way. Nothing is impossible for God.

Nativity Chronology – Day 12

Untitled-1Luke 1:37 “For with God nothing will be impossible.” At the end of the angel Gabriel’s address to Mary he speaks the truth that many men and women of faith have trusted in; with God nothing will be impossible. In the bleakest and darkest circumstances trust in God need not be something hard to grasp for we know in that instant that God can get the most glory in displaying His marvelous light. We don’t need to resign ourselves to just accepting whatever comes our way but instead we can believe in the promises God has given, trust in our Father and declare His faithfulness for all to hear. There is nothing impossible for God, so all we can see anywhere we look is the wonderful possibilities of God’s good news to transform and change everyone in every place.

Millennial Generation Sharing Christ More Than Any Other

According to a new study from Barna, Millennials in the U.S. are sharing Christ more than any other generation. The Millennial generation is the generation born after 1980. “By a previous generation’s standards, they seem low-key, a little disengaged or disinterested,” notes Greg Jao with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. “But when you actually watch their behavior, you begin to see the Millennial generation … is highly engaged with their faith.”

Nativity Chronology – Day 11

Untitled-1Luke 1:34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” 35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.

Mary understood that the angel Gabriel was not talking about the eventual children that she would have after her marriage to Joseph. She knew that the angel was talking about something miraculous which was birth without an earthly father being involved in the process. The angel explained that the baby would be conceived miraculously by the power of the Holy Spirit. So that even greater then being the Son of David, the Messiah would be the Son of God. The angel points to Elizabeth miraculous pregnancy in her advanced age to encourage Mary’s faith, as God is a God of miracles.
